Rare Encounters of the Birding Kind

Rare Encounters of the Birding Kind

Wednesday, May 16
7 – 9:30 am

Although early 20th century accounts described the Louisiana waterthrush as a common bird species throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula, it is now listed as a species of special concern and is found in only a handful of counties, including Barry County. Join local birders from the Barry County Bird Club as they guide participants through the Institute's Little Grand Canyon property in search of the rare Louisiana waterthrush and other early migratory warblers. The hike will cover some steep terrain and narrow pathways.
