Homeschool Program: Winter Trees and Maple Syrup

Homeschool Program: Winter Trees and Maple Syrup

Friday, February 21
1 – 2:30 pm

Students will learn how to identify common Michigan trees without their leaves, what strategies different trees use to survive winter, and why we can tap trees for their sweet sap to make maple syrup. Students also will try their hand at tapping a tree to taste the first drops of tree sap. Participants should be dressed to go outside in cold weather. This program is designed for children in grades K–5.
